The Kea Folktales Festival (Γιορτή Παραμυθιών), founded in 2003 by George Evgenikos, is among the longest-running storytelling festivals in Europe. It is organised by the Center for the Study and Dissemination of Myths and Folktales — the e-mythos centre — in concert with the Kea Municipality and the South Aegean Region. The festival’s emblem was drawn by the painter Alekos Fasianos. The 24th edition runs from 17 to 26 July 2026.

Each edition takes a theme; the 24th gathers under “Imprints — KEAlla”, on the marks stories leave in time and the work of keeping a spoken inheritance recorded. Narrators come from Greece, India, Scotland, Cyprus and Tunisia, telling fairy tales, legends and folk histories at sites across the island — from Ioulida and Korissia to the smaller settlements of Otzias, Mylopotamos, Ellinika and Orkos, in courtyards, chapels, harbours and the oak slopes between.

Entry to every event is open. The tales are told in Greek and in English.
