The International Opera Awards
The International Opera Awards were held in Athens for the first time on 13 November 2025, hosted by the Greek National Opera in the Stavros Niarchos Hall.
The International Opera Awards is an annual ceremony recognising excellence across the opera world, founded in 2012 by Harry Hyman and presented each year by a host opera company. On 13 November 2025 it was staged in Greece for the first time, at the Stavros Niarchos Hall of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center in Athens. The awards are voted by an international jury of critics, administrators and performers across twenty-one categories.
The 2025 ceremony was hosted by the Greek National Opera, with its Orchestra, Chorus, Children’s Chorus and Ballet performing under the conductor Konstantinos Terzakis, and soloists including Dimitri Platanias and Vassiliki Karayanni. The Stavros Niarchos Hall is the principal stage of the cultural centre designed by Renzo Piano on the Faliro coast and has been the home of the Greek National Opera since 2017.
