The Greek National Opera staged Puccini’s Turandot at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus on 1, 3, 5, 6 and 8 June 2025, within the Athens Epidaurus Festival’s seventieth anniversary year. The production was directed by Andrei Şerban with sets and costumes by Chloé Obolensky, and conducted by Pier Giorgio Morandi. It was the company’s return to the work seventeen years after its first staging at the same theatre.

The Odeon of Herodes Atticus is a second-century AD Roman theatre on the southern slope of the Acropolis. The performances were among the last before the Herodeion closed for a multi-year restoration, the first major maintenance of the ancient theatre in decades.
