The Mozart–Da Ponte Masterclass

The Mozart–Da Ponte Masterclass at the Megaron ran from 20 to 24 January 2025, with baritone Dimitris Tiliakos teaching sixteen young singers the three Da Ponte operas; the sessions concluded on 29 January with a public concert in the Dimitris Mitropoulos Hall.

The Mozart–Da Ponte Masterclass at the Megaron ran from 20 to 24 January 2025. The Greek baritone Dimitris Tiliakos taught the week of sessions on the three operas Mozart composed to librettos by Lorenzo Da Ponte: “Le nozze di Figaro”, “Don Giovanni”, and “Così fan tutte”. The sessions were held in the teaching hall of the Friends of Music Association, the body that founded and governs the Megaron – The Athens Concert Hall. They were open to the public without registration.

Sixteen young lyric artists were selected for the week and were accompanied at the piano by Thanos Margetis. The masterclass concluded on 29 January in the Dimitris Mitropoulos Hall with a staged presentation of the material worked through during the week, given under the title “É aperto a tutti quanti” — open to all.
