The Young Patrons Summer Weekend
The Museum of Cycladic Art's annual three-day island weekend for its Young Patrons, held on a different Cycladic island each July. The 13th edition is expected in mid-July 2027.
The Young Patrons Summer Weekend is the Museum of Cycladic Art’s yearly island programme for its Young Patrons, the museum’s Friends category for supporters up to 45 years old, launched in 2015. Each July the museum takes the group to a different island of the Cyclades for 3 days of archaeological visits, talks, and performances. The 13th edition is expected in mid-July 2027. The museum has not yet named the island.
The weekend has kept to mid-July across its recent editions. The 10th, on 12 to 14 July 2024, returned to Antiparos, the island of the first Summer Weekend, with a visual identity by the designer Mary Katrantzou. The 11th, on 18 to 20 July 2025, went to Milos, where Ludovic Laugier, curator of Greek sculpture at the Louvre, gave a talk on the Aphrodite of Milos at Sarakiniko.
The 12th edition, on 17 to 19 July 2026, was held on Kythnos. The programme included a walk through the active excavation at Vryokastro, the island’s ancient capital, led by Alexandros Mazarakis-Ainian of the University of Thessaly, who directs the excavations there. Each year the museum’s Friends Department invites an artist or designer to create the weekend’s visual identity.
