New Year's Eve in Athens
Three Athens houses hold New Year's Eve galas on 31 December 2026: One&Only Aesthesis and the Four Seasons Astir Palace on the Athens Riviera, and the Hotel Grande Bretagne above Syntagma Square.
Three Athens houses hold New Year’s Eve galas on 31 December 2026. Two are on the Athens Riviera, south of the city centre: One&Only Aesthesis at Glyfada and the Four Seasons Astir Palace at Vouliagmeni — the first Greek properties of Kerzner International and of Four Seasons respectively. The third, the Hotel Grande Bretagne, stands above Syntagma Square opposite the Greek Parliament, where it has occupied the same corner since 1874.
The two Riviera resorts pair their gala dinners with later DJ-led rooms; the Grande Bretagne sets off fireworks over the Acropolis at midnight from its eighth-floor roof terrace. Each house publishes its festive programme and menus closer to the date.
One&Only Aesthesis
Glyfada, Athens Riviera · Attica
One&Only Aesthesis is Kerzner International's first property in Greece, opened in 2024 on the grounds of the former Asteria of Glyfada, the seaside resort that drew Athenian society from the 1950s. Its New Year's Eve programme runs across two restaurants: a gala dinner at Ora by Ettore Botrini, the Michelin-starred chef whose cooking draws on his Corfiot background, followed by a later programme at Gastón Acurio's beachfront Peruvian restaurant, Manko Athens. In its first festive season, Ora served a seven-course gala with live jazz and Manko followed with a Latin American menu and DJ sets. The 2026 menus are published with the resort's festive programme.
Four Seasons Astir Palace
Vouliagmeni, Athens Riviera · Attica
The Four Seasons Astir Palace is the first Four Seasons in Greece, opened in March 2019 across thirty hectares at the tip of the Vouliagmeni peninsula, and placed seventeenth in The World's 50 Best Hotels 2025. Its New Year's Eve dinner at Pelagos has run to seven courses under Luca Piscazzi, the chef who took the restaurant to a Michelin star in November 2021, with wine pairings and string music through the courses. Mercato serves seafood, black truffle, and Wagyu. Midnight is held at Avra Bar, with DJ sets, a live band, and fireworks over the bay. The 2026 festive programme has not yet been published.
Hotel Grande Bretagne
GB Roof Garden, Athens · Attica
The Hotel Grande Bretagne holds its New Year's Eve gala at the GB Roof Garden, the eighth-floor restaurant and terrace overlooking the Acropolis, Lycabettus, and the Greek Parliament across Syntagma Square. The kitchen is led by Asterios Koustoudis, the Michelin-awarded executive chef of both the Grande Bretagne and the neighbouring King George, with the pâtisserie under Arnaud Larher; the cellar has been recognised by Wine Spectator every year since 2014. The hotel has occupied this corner of Syntagma since 1874, when Efstathios Lampsas gave it its name, and it received the foreign delegations of the first modern Olympic Games in 1896. At midnight fireworks are set off over the Acropolis, and the menu is published with the hotel's festive-season programme.
