The Andros International Yacht Race
The Andros International Yacht Race is the annual offshore race sailed between the Attica coast and the island of Andros, organised by the Yacht Club of Greece with the Nautical Club of Andros. The 59th edition runs from 27 to 30 August 2026 and opens with a 72-nautical-mile leg from Vouliagmeni to Chora.
The Andros International Yacht Race is an annual offshore race sailed between the Attica coast and the island of Andros, organised jointly by the Yacht Club of Greece and the Nautical Club of Andros and named for Ioannis B. Goulandris. The 59th edition runs from Thursday 27 to Sunday 30 August 2026 under the title sponsorship of Eurobank. Its opening leg starts in the sea off Vouliagmeni on the Athens Riviera and finishes 72 nautical miles later at Chora, the capital of Andros.
The fleet races round the buoys off Andros on Saturday 29 August, then sails the 74-nautical-mile return leg from Chora to Vouliagmeni on Sunday 30 August. Boats measured under ORCi, ORC Club and ORC Double-Handed certificates are eligible, and superyachts race alongside the ORC divisions. The 2026 fleet numbers 16 boats, among them Velos Eurobank Private Banking, sailed by the Olympic medallists Takis Mantis and Pavlos Kagialis.
Ioannis B. Goulandris was a founding member of the Nautical Club of Andros and, while living in England, a champion in the International One Design class and a member of the Royal Corinthian Yacht Club at Cowes. He created the race, which its organisers describe as the oldest sailing race in Greece. The 52nd edition, in 2019, drew more than 30 boats and ran the same 72-nautical-mile opening leg from Vouliagmeni at the end of August.
