The Spetses Mini Marathon
The Spetses Mini Marathon is Communication Lab's annual multi-sport event on Spetses, combining open-water swims across the Kosta strait with foot races of up to 25 kilometres around the car-free island. The 2026 edition is scheduled for 3 and 4 October.
The Spetses Mini Marathon is Communication Lab’s annual multi-sport event on Spetses in the Saronic Gulf, founded by Marina Koutarelli in 2011 and held each October in association with the Municipality of Spetses. The 2026 edition is scheduled for 3 and 4 October. The event is the autumn counterpart to the Spetses Classic Yacht Regatta, which was also founded in 2011.
Saturday includes open-water swims of 1,500 and 3,000 metres, with the longer course carried across the strait from Kosta on the Peloponnesian shore to the island, followed by a ten-kilometre run through the town in the late afternoon. Sunday morning features the 25-kilometre race, a full circuit of Spetses along a coastal road with significant climbs and eight refuelling stations, alongside a five-kilometre run.
The weekend draws more than five thousand competitors, with athletes arriving from over forty countries. Spetses has restricted private cars from its lanes since the early 1960s. Saturday evening gathers participants at Poseidonion Square ahead of the Sunday races.
