Spetsathlon

Spetsathlon — Greece's largest triathlon weekend — fell across 15 to 17 May 2026 on car-free Spetses, with open-water swims off Agios Mamas, a circuit of the island by bicycle and the Sunday triathlons from Poseidonion Square.

Spetsathlon is an annual multi-sport event held on Spetses in the Saronic Gulf, described by its organisers as the largest triathlon held in Greece. The 2026 edition was held from 15 to 17 May. The event was launched in 2013 under the presidency of Marina Koutarelli, who had founded the Spetses Mini Marathon two years earlier. Racing takes place almost entirely from Poseidonion Square at Dapia on the car-free island; Spetses has restricted private cars from its lanes since the early 1960s.

The three days followed a structured programme. Friday included wellness sessions at the square. Saturday comprised the standalone disciplines: open-water swims of one and three kilometres off Agios Mamas beach, a twenty-five-kilometre cycle around the island, and a five-kilometre run in the late afternoon. Sunday morning held the two triathlons from Poseidonion Square.

The Sprint triathlon covered 750 metres of swimming, twenty-five kilometres of cycling and five kilometres of running. The Endurance triathlon ran to Olympic-plus distances: 1.5 kilometres of swimming, fifty kilometres of cycling and ten kilometres of running. Award ceremonies were held at Poseidonion Square each evening.
