The Posidonia Sea Tourism Forum

The eighth Posidonia Sea Tourism Forum gathered the Mediterranean cruise and yachting leadership at the Creta Maris Resort near Heraklion on 6 and 7 May 2025.

The eighth Posidonia Sea Tourism Forum was held on 6 and 7 May 2025 at the Creta Maris Resort near Heraklion — the first time the biennial Forum had convened on Crete, Greece’s largest island. Launched in 2011 and held every second year, the Forum is the platform on which the cruise and yachting leadership of the Eastern Mediterranean gathers: the executives of the international cruise lines and yachting companies, the ports and destinations, the regulators and tourism ministries of the wider basin.

The 2025 edition turned on destination sustainability — the management of overcrowding at the most-visited ports, the infrastructure the next decade of cruising will require, and the decarbonisation of the fleet — across two days of keynote addresses, panels and parallel workshops, with a youth forum convened alongside the main programme to draw the next generation into maritime careers.

Organised by Posidonia Exhibitions SA, the company behind the biennial Posidonia shipping exhibition, the Forum carries in sea tourism the standing its parent carries in shipping, with the active support of CLIA Europe and MedCruise. The ninth edition is scheduled for Spring 2027.
