The Economist Government Roundtable
The Economist Government Roundtable is the annual Athens conference at which The Economist convenes the Greek government with international political and business figures. The 31st edition is expected in early July 2027; the 30th ran from 8 to 10 July 2026 at the Grand Resort Lagonissi.
The Economist Government Roundtable is The Economist’s annual conference in Athens, where members of the Greek government meet international policymakers, economists and business leaders. Economist Impact organises the conference with Hazlis & Rivas, the exclusive representative of The Economist’s events for Greece, Cyprus, Malta and southeastern Europe. The 31st edition is expected in early July 2027, and the organiser has not yet published its dates.
The series holds to the first half of July. The 28th edition ran from 2 to 4 July 2024, the 29th from 1 to 3 July 2025, and the 30th from 8 to 10 July 2026. The 2025 and 2026 editions were both held at the Grand Resort Lagonissi, on the coast southeast of Athens.
The 30th edition took the title “Progress in an age of upheaval” and was organised around geopolitics, growth and technology. On its final day, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis held a conversation with Roberta Metsola, President of the European Parliament, moderated by Daniel Franklin, executive editor of The Economist.
