The Onassis Stegi Winter Cycle

The Onassis Stegi Winter Cycle is the annual theatre, dance, and film programme at the Onassis Stegi in Athens, running from mid-January to late March 2026, with principal commissions announced in the second week of January.

The Onassis Stegi Winter Cycle is the annual performing-arts programme held at the Onassis Stegi on Syngrou Avenue in Athens, Greece, running from mid-January to late March. The Stegi is the principal cultural arm of the Onassis Foundation in Athens. The building was designed by the French firm AS.Architecture-Studio with the Athens practice of A&M Architects and opened in 2010, with an 880-seat Main Stage and a 200-seat Upper Stage.

The winter programme is organised across three lines. International contemporary dance forms one strand, with the Stegi a principal partner of artists including Sasha Waltz and the Tanztheater Wuppertal tradition of Pina Bausch. Chamber programmes drawn from Greek conservatories and visiting European houses form a second strand. The late-night cinema series, held in collaboration with the Greek Film Archive at Iera Odos, runs on Tuesday and Friday nights and forms the third.

The principal winter commissions are announced in the second week of January, with touring co-productions confirmed in early February. The 2026 winter cycle runs to the third week of March; the building closes for the Easter week and the spring season opens in late April.
