Naftiki Evdomada, the Hellenic Navy Week, is the Hellenic Navy's biennial nationwide maritime festival, expected in late June 2027. The 2025 edition brought open warship visits, naval-band concerts and sailing competitions to more than 80 ports and towns across Greece.
Naftiki Evdomada, the Hellenic Navy Week, is the Hellenic Navy’s nationwide maritime festival, organised in cooperation with the Hellenic Coast Guard and held every second year at ports across Greece. The institution dates to 1933, and the Navy describes it as a celebration of national significance honouring the relationship of the Greeks with the sea. The next edition is expected in late June 2027, with the dates and programme published by the Navy ahead of the season.
The 2025 edition ran from 29 June to 6 July, with events at more than 80 ports and towns, from Thessaloniki and Volos to Crete, Rhodes and the Cyclades. It opened at Messolonghi, and the President of the Republic inspected warships of the Navy and patrol vessels of the Coast Guard under way in the Saronic Gulf. The closing ceremony was held at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Centre in Athens on 5 July, with a concert and a drone display before the political and military leadership.
The week opens the fleet to the public. Warships receive visitors at their berths across the country, the Navy’s band gives concerts in harbour towns, exhibitions of historical and educational character are mounted ashore, and swimming, sailing and running competitions are held nationwide. The 2025 edition carried the motto “I Ellas en plo” (Greece under way) and staged exhibitions at the Hellenic Naval Academy, the War Museum and the Syntagma metro station in Athens.
