George Dalaras at the Theatro Gis
George Dalaras brought his Rebetiko programme to the Theatro Gis in Thessaloniki on Tuesday 8 September 2026, within the 12th Forest Festival, after rain postponed the original date of 3 September.
George Dalaras at the Theatro Gis was the Thessaloniki concert of “Rebetiko”, the programme of rebetiko songs the singer had spent the two previous years taking to concert halls in London, Paris, Stockholm, Hamburg and Amsterdam. It formed part of the 12th Forest Festival of the State Theatre of Northern Greece. The concert was first set for Thursday 3 September 2026; heavy rain stopped it shortly before the start, and it moved to Tuesday 8 September at the same theatre.
Aspasia Stratigou, Mariana Katsimicha and Vasilis Korakakis sang with Dalaras. The band included Giorgos Papachristoudis on piano, Vasilis Korakakis, Giannis Stamatogiannis and Dimitris Reppas on bouzouki, Sotiris Margonis on violin, Manos Grysbolakis on accordion and Ilias Mantikos on kanonaki.
From Thessaloniki the programme moved to the Katrakeio Theatre in Nikaia, the singer’s home town, on 24 September. The Theatro Gis is an open-air theatre of 4,332 seats, built in 1998 in a former quarry at Triandria to designs by the architect Manos Perrakis.
