The Greek Sale is Bonhams’ annual dedicated auction of modern and contemporary Greek art, held on 21 May 2025 in partnership with the Athens house Art Expertise. The sale comprised 171 lots.
It was led by the painters of the modern Greek canon: Yiannis Moralis, whose Les orangers headed the sale; Nikos Engonopoulos and his Tragédie à Hérodion; and works by Fotis Kontoglou, Yiannis Tsarouchis and Alekos Fassianos, several estimated near or above half a million euros. Before the sale, the highlights travelled to Athens and were shown to collectors there in the first week of May, though the sale itself was held in Paris. Moralis’s canvas sold for just over two hundred thousand euros and Engonopoulos’s for close to a hundred and fifty thousand.
