The August Full Moon is the Hellenic Ministry of Culture’s annual nocturnal opening of archaeological sites, museums and monuments across Greece, coordinated by the General Directorate of Antiquities and Cultural Heritage. The 2025 edition was held on 9 August — the twenty-fifth consecutive year of the tradition — and opened 114 sites and museums after dark: 71 with programmed events and the remainder with free admission.

The extended programme ran from 8 to 13 August and included theatre, music, dance, art exhibitions, stargazing, mythology readings, and guided tours, much of it arranged with local administrations and associations. The ancient oracles of Delphi and Dodona opened from eight in the evening until midnight; the Acropolis Museum kept continuous hours from nine in the morning to midnight; and the sites of Pella, ancient Stagira, Plato’s Academy, Nestor’s palace at Pylos, and Gortyna on Crete observed the same nocturnal schedule.
