The International Aegean Sailing Rally
The International Aegean Sailing Rally is Greece's oldest offshore sailing race, run every summer since 1964 by the Hellenic Offshore Racing Club. The 64th edition is expected in mid-July 2027, starting and finishing in Faliro Bay across three or four offshore legs to Aegean islands announced ahead of each running.
The International Aegean Sailing Rally is Greece’s oldest offshore sailing race, run every summer since 1964 by the Hellenic Offshore Racing Club in collaboration with the Hellenic Navy. It is sailed as a series of three or four offshore legs, starting and finishing in Faliro Bay with intermediate stops at Aegean islands chosen anew each year, and covers between 350 and 500 nautical miles depending on the ports selected. The 64th edition is expected in mid-July 2027, with the course and the dates published ahead of each running.
The Hellenic Offshore Racing Club was founded in Piraeus in 1961, and World Sailing has since assigned it 5 World Championships. The 63rd rally, held from 18 to 27 July 2026, opened at Faliro with a 100-mile passage to Finikas on Syros, raced a further 100 miles to Lakki on Leros, then returned 92 miles to Finikas. An inshore ONEX Cup of about 15 miles was sailed off Syros between the offshore legs, and the shore programme included a Dock Sailing Festival and a tour of Ermoupolis and its working shipyard.
The 62nd edition, which started from Faliro on 19 July 2025, finished at Finikas for the first time in 60 years, the island having last hosted the finish in 1965, the rally’s second year. ONEX Shipyards and Technologies Group is the rally’s grand sponsor, and the prize-giving is held at the Aegean Naval Command in Piraeus.
