The 27th Thessaloniki International Documentary Festival ran from 6 to 16 March 2025 — eleven days across the port city's cinemas and converted waterfront warehouses, screening 261 documentaries.
The Thessaloniki International Documentary Festival is the documentary arm of the Thessaloniki Film Festival — the institution founded in 1960 that operates under the Ministry of Culture from headquarters on Plateia Aristotelous. The 27th edition ran from 6 to 16 March 2025, across the port city’s cinemas and the converted warehouses of the old harbour.
The 2025 edition screened 261 documentaries from around the world, with thirty films across three competition sections — among them nine Greek productions — each carrying its world, international or European premiere. The programme included an AI tribute strand and a NextGen strand. Founded in 1999, the festival is among the leading documentary festivals in southeastern Europe.
