Syros International Music Festival

Meet the Violins' annual chamber-music festival at the Apollon Theatre in Ermoupolis, Syros; the 2026 edition is the fourth under artistic director Jonas Vitaud, running 1 to 5 September.

The Syros International Music Festival is the annual chamber-music festival of Meet the Violins, a non-profit registered on the island, held at the Apollon Theatre in Ermoupolis, Syros. The 2026 edition runs from 1 to 5 September — the fourth under the artistic direction of the French pianist Jonas Vitaud — with five evenings of chamber music. The programme opens with Viva España and closes with 200 Years of Ermoupoli, a concert written to mark the bicentenary of the city.

The 2026 company includes the soprano Thaïs Raï-Westphal, the cellist Yan Levionnois, and the pianists Natacha Kudritskaya and Jiyeon Lee, with Vitaud himself performing. The Greek composer and singer Sofia Avramidou holds the year’s residency. The programme includes Brahms on the second evening, works by women composers on the third, and Couperin set against shadow theatre on the fourth.

The Apollon Theatre is a nineteenth-century opera house in Ermoupolis, which remains the capital of the Cyclades. Each concert begins at 20:30.
