The eighth Santorini Experience was held from 10 to 12 October 2025, co-organised by the Municipality of Thira with ActiveMedia Group, in the year the event marked a decade since its founding in 2015.
The open-water swim on Friday covered 1.5 miles — 2.4 kilometres — from the volcanic islet to the Old Port of Fira, crossing the deepest reach of the caldera on a course designed by Nikos Gemelos, the technical director with Olympic and world distinctions in swimming. Saturday’s trail running offered three routes departing from the desalination plant at Oia along the rim path through Firostefani towards Fira: fifteen kilometres for the endurance field, ten for the mid-distance runner, and a five-kilometre route named for Aristides Alafouzos. Sunday concluded with a morning hike at Ancient Thera.
The 2025 edition received eight distinctions at the Sports Marketing Awards and gold in the Sports Events category at the Tourism Awards 2025. The 2024 field had drawn athletes from thirty-five countries to the island.
