MAMI
Mario Banushi premiered MAMI on the Main Stage of the Onassis Stegi on 6 February 2025 — an Onassis commission carried by eight European co-producers.
MAMI is a theatre work conceived and directed by Mario Banushi, which premiered on the Main Stage of the Onassis Stegi in Athens on 6 February 2025 and ran through 22 March. It is the third work in Banushi’s wordless trilogy on family, memory and the body. Banushi is an Albanian-born director who came to Greek theatre in his early twenties.
The production is an Onassis Stegi commission, co-produced by a circle of eight European houses: the Berliner Festspiele, the Odéon — Théâtre de l’Europe in Paris, the Festival d’Avignon, FOG / Triennale Milano Teatro, the Grec Festival in Barcelona, Espoo Theatre, the Théâtre de Liège and the Noorderzon Festival in Groningen. The work moves without spoken text, in images and tableaux. Following the Athens premiere, the production travelled to Avignon and other festival stages.
The Onassis Stegi opened on Syngrou Avenue in 2010 as the cultural house of the Onassis Foundation and is the city’s principal stage for new international theatre and dance.
