Leonidas Kavakos and Enrico Pace

On 22 March 2025 the violinist Leonidas Kavakos and pianist Enrico Pace gave a Beethoven sonata recital at the Megaron — a homecoming for one of the era's foremost violinists.

Leonidas Kavakos and Enrico Pace gave a Beethoven violin-and-piano sonata recital at the Megaron — the Athens Concert Hall — on 22 March 2025, presented by the Friends of Music Society. Kavakos, born in Athens in 1967, won first prize at the Sibelius Competition at twenty-one, followed by the Paganini and Naumburg prizes. His complete recording of the ten Beethoven sonatas with Pace was named ECHO Klassik Instrumentalist of the Year.

The Megaron opened in 1991 on Vasilissis Sofias and is the principal concert hall of Athens; its acoustics are considered among the most exacting in southeastern Europe. The Friends of Music Society remains its presenting body. Kavakos plays the 1724 ‘Willemotte’ Stradivarius.
