Giorgos Alkaios and NiVo at the Petra Theatre
The singer Giorgos Alkaios and the rapper NiVo opened their joint 2025 summer tour at the Petra Theatre in Petroupoli on Thursday 17 July 2025, as part of the International Petra Festival.
Giorgos Alkaios and NiVo at the Petra Theatre was the opening concert of the two artists’ joint summer tour of Greece, held on Thursday 17 July 2025 at the Petra Theatre in Petroupoli. It formed part of the 2025 International Petra Festival, the summer and autumn programme of the Municipality of Petroupoli. The festival programme listed the night as Giorgos Alkaios and Goin’ Through; the municipality’s announcement billed it as the Alkaios-NiVo Summer Tour.
Alkaios is a singer whose songs combine laiko and pop. NiVo, the stage name of Nikos Vourliotis, is one of the founding figures of Greek hip hop. The two first worked together a few months before the tour, when NiVo recorded his own version of the Alkaios song “S’ agapao”. At Petra they played with a 12-piece band, in a programme they arranged themselves, with Isorropistis, Valena, Tasos Sidiropoulos and Miranda as guests and Stratos Agiostratitis in a surprise role.
The Petra Theatre occupies the former Aimos quarry in Petroupoli. It was first used for performances in 1983, on the proposal of the director Minos Volanakis. The main stage, named after Volanakis, was built in 1995 and seats 4,000. The festival took its present name, the International Petra Festival, in 2003.
