The Economist Government Roundtable

The 30th Economist Government Roundtable is a three-day policy and economic conference held at the Grand Resort Lagonissi from 8 to 10 July 2026, convening the Greek government with international political and business figures under the title "Progress in an age of upheaval".

The Economist Government Roundtable is The Economist’s annual policy and economic conference in Greece, held at the Grand Resort Lagonissi on the coast southeast of Athens. The 30th edition runs across three days, from 8 to 10 July 2026, under the title “Progress in an age of upheaval”. The conference is organised by Economist Impact and represented in Greece by Hazlis & Rivas, the exclusive representative of The Economist’s events for Greece, Cyprus, Malta and southeastern Europe.

The roundtable convenes the Greek government with an international audience of investors and policymakers, and its programme pairs serving ministers with economists, diplomats and the heads of international institutions. The 29th edition, held in July 2025 at the same venue, featured Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in conversation with Daron Acemoglu, professor of economics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and drew the Deputy Secretary General of NATO. The 28th edition was held over 2 to 4 July 2024. The series was previously titled the Roundtable with the Government of Greece.

Past editions have placed the Greek prime minister opposite international thinkers; the 25th roundtable featured a conversation between Mitsotakis and the political scientist Francis Fukuyama. The 30th edition is structured around three themes: geopolitics, growth and technology.
