Nammos is a beach restaurant on the sand in Mykonos, open since 2003. The address is Psarou, five minutes south of Chora by car, so lunch there is a short run out of the town and back. The kitchen is Mediterranean with a pan-Asian layer, built on Aegean fish and seafood with beef brought in from further afield.

The fish is bought from the boats that land on the beach each morning, so the day’s card is settled by what the sea gave up overnight. The beef travels the other way. Selected cuts hang in the restaurant’s own dry-ageing cabinets before they reach the kitchen. The bay in front of the tables fills with yachts through the summer, and small fishing boats work the same water.

In 2003 it was a taverna on Psarou bay, and it grew into the best-known beach address on the island. Other Nammos rooms have opened since.

The card

Fish and seafood are the centre of it, served to tables that can see the boats that brought them in. Sushi runs alongside: maki rolls, sashimi from the freshest fish on hand, and Japanese ingredients used in the kitchen’s own combinations. The Mediterranean half stays with regional dishes and traditional produce, handled lightly. Beef arrives from the cabinets as the counterweight to all of it, in cuts selected from producers around the world.

How you arrive

Psarou lies a short drive south of the town, and the restaurant is set up as well for guests who come by sea. Car, yacht berthing, Riva tender, helipad are the four routes in. A private deck off the beach is kept for the yachts and superyachts lying in the bay, and a Riva tender will bring guests ashore from a yacht at anchor. Whoever comes by air lands at the restaurant’s own helipad.

The cabanas

A short way from the tables, on the sand, stand the cabanas. Four, day-use: a party takes one for the length of a day and gives it back at the end of it. They are named Nero, Marrone, Azzuro and Aqua Marina, and each has a private hot tub outdoors with magnesium salts, a collection of skin products, a mini-fridge of homemade delicacies, a cocktail bar for cabana guests, a butler and a menu from a dedicated chef. Arrival and departure can be by yacht or by car.

The bay and its services

The beach is set up for a whole day of it: valet parking, private transfers, a spa, a concierge lounge and 24-hour security on site. The restaurant also takes private celebrations, and has held wedding receptions, corporate events, fashion shows and gala dinners on the sand.

The house it became

Nammos rooms followed in Dubai, Cannes, Sardinia and Limassol, each of them on a shore. The restaurant now sits inside ADMO, a joint venture of Alpha Dhabi and Monterock International. A Nammos hotel opened on the same beach in 2024, the group’s first. A London restaurant will follow it into the Ada Building on Berkeley Street in Mayfair, the first Nammos to stand away from the water. The group calls the whole of it Nammos World, and it covers dining, shops and wellness as well as the hotels.

Who is this for

Anyone who wants the day rather than the meal: a swim in the morning, a long table in the afternoon, and nothing to move between. The sand runs up to the chairs, bare hills stand across the water, and the bay is calm enough that the boats sit still in it. There is a playground for children. A party of four or six is as well placed as a couple, since a cabana takes a group out of the main room for the whole of a day.
