Angsana Corfu Resort & Spa opened in June 2021, on Akra Punta Bay above the fishing village of Benitses, 11 km from Corfu International Airport. It is Banyan Group’s first property in Europe.
The build is large. The house holds 159 rooms and suites, 37 pool villas, 196 keys in all, with a children’s club, meeting rooms and a long list of places to eat and drink. A 1,000 sqm infinity pool runs along the hillside, and the resort has a private beach of its own. Kostas Biblis is the general manager, and the 2026 season opened in June with guided hikes through the olive groves and sound healing in the wellness rooms.
Each of the 37 villas was drawn with a reference to the Venetian architecture of the island’s older houses, and each has a private pool and a sea view. They run from one to four bedrooms: 97 sqm for the smallest, 140 and 180 sqm in between, and 280 sqm for the four-bedroom residence at the heart of the estate. Villa guests have the V Lounge and a breakfast room of their own, and a team that arranges what they do with the day. Rooms in the main building start at 39 sqm, facing woodland, the open Ionian or Benitses Bay, and the suites climb to 80 sqm on the corner.
The spa
The spa works with locally sourced flowers, herbs and fruits, some of them grown in a garden on the hotel’s roof. Four of the treatment rooms have a steam room and a bath of their own. The treatments are Asian in origin: a Rain Mist massage drawn from Thai waterfall rituals, a Thai massage of stretching, palming and thumbing, and the Angsana Senses massage, which works the body’s pressure points. Each one starts with a foot rub. The spa takes guests aged 16 and over. There is a hair salon too, for cuts and styling, manicures, make-up and waxing.
The fitness rooms hold a second pool, 25 metres, heated and indoors, with a panoramic yoga deck, a gym and classes through the day at no charge.
The tables
Sofrito is the Corfiot room, on a terrace above the Ionian. Oribu cooks North Asian, with dishes from Japan and Korea, and opens for dinner from 14 April to 20 October. Emerald by Night serves meze and Greek spirits on the resort’s own beach from 3 June to 30 September, with live bouzouki. Breakfast is in Ruen Romsai, a lounge at the centre of the resort, and there are bars at the pool, on the beach and on the roof, the last of them open Friday to Sunday from 5 June to 30 August.
Where it stands
The resort is about 30 minutes by car from both Corfu International Airport and the port at Corfu Town. The old town of Corfu, which UNESCO lists, is 13 km away, a drive of about 25 minutes. The Achilleion Palace, the 19th-century estate Empress Elisabeth of Austria built, is 3 km off, about 8 minutes by car, and Pontikonisi, the islet with the Byzantine monastery, is 5 km. The islets of Paxoi and Antipaxoi lie 30 nautical miles out, an hour by fast boat from Benitses Marina or from the resort itself. Benitses has tavernas of its own, a short drive down the hill.
Who is this for
Families and groups who want a house with its own pool and a resort behind it, and a day that can be as full or as quiet as they choose. Children aged 4 to 11 have the Rangers’ Club, with its own pool, a sandbox and games. The beach runs a water sports station in season, with a shuttle down to it every 15 minutes, and a boat can be taken out to a quieter cove. Mornings face east across Benitses Bay, with the Corfiot hills rising behind the rooms.
