Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch: Vollmond

Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch will perform Vollmond, Pina Bausch’s 2006 dance theatre piece, in the Alexandra Trianti Hall of the Megaron from 6 to 9 November 2026.

Vollmond (Full Moon) is a dance theatre piece by the German choreographer Pina Bausch, and her company, Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch, will perform it at the Megaron, the Athens Concert Hall. The company will give 4 evening performances in the Alexandra Trianti Hall, from Friday 6 to Monday 9 November 2026. The Megaron presents the run in its dance programme for the 2026 to 2027 season.

The piece was first performed on 11 May 2006 at the Schauspielhaus in Wuppertal, and the Athens run falls 20 years after that premiere. Peter Pabst designed the set, a large boulder on a stage that fills with water, and Marion Cito designed the costumes. The score is assembled from recorded music by Tom Waits, Cat Power, René Aubry and the Balanescu Quartet, among others. A performance lasts 2 hours and 20 minutes, with one interval.

Among the collaborators credited for the production is Daphnis Kokkinos, a Greek dancer who trained at the National School of Dance in Athens and has directed that school since 2020. The Athens dates sit in the company’s 2026 to 2027 touring season, which takes Vollmond on to Ludwigshafen in December 2026 and to New York in March 2027.
