Les Arts Florissants — Bach Christmas Oratorio

Les Arts Florissants brought Bach’s Christmas Oratorio to the Athens Concert Hall on 16 December 2025. The ensemble, founded in Paris in 1979 by William Christie, was directed at the Megaron by its co-director Paul Agnew. The programme comprised four of the oratorio’s six cantatas — the cycle Bach composed for the Leipzig feast days between Christmas and Epiphany of 1734–35 — performed with soloists and chorus.

The Megaron opened in 1991 on Vasilissis Sofias Avenue and is administered by the Athens Concert Hall Organisation. The concert formed part of the hall’s 2025–26 artistic season.
