The Odeon of Herodes Atticus Farewell Celebrations is a programme of performances held throughout June 2026 by the Athens & Epidaurus Festival, marking the closure of the Odeon for a restoration expected to last several years. The programme is curated by artistic director Michail Marmarinos. The Odeon was raised between AD 160 and 174 by the Athenian philosopher Herodes Atticus in memory of his wife Regilla, and has been the festival’s principal stage since its first season in 1955. The marble auditorium seats 4,680.

The programme opens on 3 June with the Icelandic pianist Víkingur Ólafsson performing Bach, Beethoven and Schubert. The Tallinn Chamber Orchestra and the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir present an evening of Arvo Pärt under Tõnu Kaljuste on 15 June. Stathis Livathinos stages Hecuba on 25 and 26 June. The Athens State Orchestra performs Mahler’s Eighth Symphony on 29 June. John Legend performs on 30 June, the final night before the Odeon closes.
