Apocalypse Now and Then is a solo exhibition by the Romanian artist Andra Ursuța, held at the DESTE Foundation’s Project Space on Hydra from 24 June to 31 October 2025. It is the artist’s first major exhibition in Greece. The DESTE Foundation was established by the collector Dakis Joannou in 1983. Its Project Space, a former slaughterhouse on Hydra, has been given over to a single invited artist each summer since 2009.
The exhibition presents works in cast bronze and glass that adopt the display conventions of the archaeological museum to produce faux-historicist artefacts representing a defunct civilisation. The works address themes of contemporary anxiety and civilisational decline. The opening evening included a conversation between the artist and the curator Massimiliano Gioni at an open-air cinema on the island.
